AGRICULTURAL DRONE SURVEY: NDVI - even more effective with a drone

NDVI - many people have heard of it, and professionals are well aware of the Normalized Differential Vegetation Index used in precision farming. The data obtained in this way are remote sensing data, which can be made on the basis of satellite images or with a drone. The sensors used measure the proportion of light incident on the examined surface (soil, vegetation) that is absorbed and reflected in different wavelength ranges. From the values obtained in this way, we can calculate the vegetation index, on the basis of which maps can be made.

With the vegetation index, we can measure the vegetation activity of the vegetation, i.e. we can map how much of the light in the wavelength range useful for photosynthesis is absorbed by the plant - the more, the better. The NDVI actually gives us an accurate map of the heterogeneity of the given field and of the various problems occurring within the field, such as nutrient supply problems, plant stress, diseases. With time-series surveys, the development of the vegetation, the efficiency of the applied agrotechnological and crop cultivation technologies can be monitored, but it can also be an important reference point for determining the level of nitrogen fertilization.

As I mentioned above, NDVI maps can be created based on satellite images or drone surveys. In precision farming, satellite surveys are currently still widespread, which can really be useful in large areas of more than 3,000 hectares. But why is the drone better? A drone survey can also be carried out in cloudy weather, so that there are no longer periods of time to observe the vegetation. The accuracy of the satellite survey is far behind that of the drone survey: a resolution of 100-250 m/pixel can be obtained with a satellite, while a resolution of 1-10 cm/pixel can be achieved with a drone. With the high-resolution images obtained in this way, we can map the state of our field much more precisely. So there is no question why it is worth choosing the drone multispectral vegetation mapping service. Look for us with confidence!
